I was one of about 2,000 people holding up a 2 in the stands, I know a lot of people wanted to go for two. The way Ethan was playing I would have rolled him out of the pocket and gave him he option to throw it or run it.
There were three factors as to why they didn't kick the pat.
1 The goalpost are much narrower and godsey had already missed his first one.
2 Godsey had gotten a helmet in the hip on his kicking leg possibly a hip pointer. This was near the end of 3rd, early 4th.
3 the coaching staff decided on the drive they were going to go for two and the win, running the same pass play they ran on the 2nd TD, as the way Riverheads was running the ball they didn't want to give them a shot in OT and the old saying "at home go for 1 and the tie on the road 2 for the win". So even without the penalty they may not have scored and everyone would be bemoaning why they decided to go for 2.

Once again, I would like to state the fact that Burton has no kicking game. Godsey would have missed that kick. That is why they [Jimbo] didn't attempt the PAT after their last touchdown. They struggled all year in that department. Why would they stop what they have been doing all year? Especially in that situation.
Norton's kicking game had been something they worked on over the year. I am not 100% but I think they had Shanghai over there working with the kicker multiple times. Its great to say that kickers should be able to do this/that or the other thing but we've all seen teams that every extra point or even kickoff was an adventure. Don't forget Nortons numbers. Now maybe they should have brought a foreign exchange student in to kick for them like another team did in the past
The thing is, and if you watched Norton much this year you know this.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
We only kicked on Field Goal while i played at coeburn and that was my sr. year when ogre kicked a 35 yard FG
ICGRM takin' over

THAT IS RUNNING UP THE SCORE IN MY BOOK.
I'M PRETTY SURE MOST WOULD AGREE.
IF YOUR TEAM IS ON THE LOSING SIDE AND YOUR DOWN BY 21 OR MORE WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF THE OTHER TEAM LINED UP AND WENT FOR 2 PTS AND ... GOT IT! MAYBE EVEN MORE THEN ONCE?

That's true that going for 2 points when a team is down really badly is a bit controversial, but I look at it this way: Exactly who's to blame for allowing the team to SCORE?
Allowing those 6 points is much worse than risking the 2 points afterwards, in my opinion.
In short: If you allow that team to score, you're pretty much ASKING for an extra 2-points. And if you can't stop them there in the red zone, that's another thing - their fault for allowing it!
It's either kick a wimpy field goal and get one extra point, or battle your way into the endzone and earn two extra points as a result.
Don't see how a field goal is any less threatening to the other team.. heck, you could argue that 6 points is enough once you're ahead by a large margin, so why not just kneel the ball instead of kicking a field goal!? Right? Just doesn't work that way - it's football, nobody gets away that easily.

Nah, if you have a team that is the weaker team and they just can't stop the 6pts from happening it's not THEIR FAULT for allowing the TD... hahaha...that team just isn't good enough to stop the other. I mean they are trying to stop them obivously!
So why go for 2pts when the game is in the bag?
You still dont see it! haha OH WELL!
IN SHORT - If you allow a team to score and that team is winning by more then 21 points you are not asking for them to go for 2pts! That is about the dumbest thing I have heard in my life. ha-ha
The 6 points are gonna happen still if you have a team that is by far the better team but the 2pts like I said before adds insult to injury. There is no need in it. I have to agree I think Burton chould have worked on the extra point kicking more in the reg season but I also belive that if the ball is spoted on the 3 then going for 2 is the right call at the end of the state game

Yea, IF it's at the 3 yardline go for it and win it or lose it!
I agree!!
Not at the 18 yardline!!!

Most teams with a kicker would have probably kicked it but I think folks are most upset with the fact that they belive the ball SHOULD have been spoted on the 3........IMHO while the video seems to sugust that fans have a beef with the Refs I have a hard time beliving it is a conspericy to hose burton by the refs honistly I think the refs do the best job that they can and are human and will miss calls. True some are better than othersbut that is just the way things are.....I have not seen a penalty yardage for this game but I bet it is not far out of aline with Burtons other games this season (seem to remember them getting alot of penalitys in some games this season)
What I am tring to say is Burtion can take the adatude that they got screwed and truly start to belive that it will not matter what they do the "Refs" will not let them win the big one.....OR they could do some sole searching and try to be a more disaplined team and cut down on the flags making them a better team.
Burton just lost a heart breaker and being angry over it is OK but if they can not learn from there mistakesand make themself better (in football and life) then they are missing out on what sport is really all about
